Kurt Leuschner is Professor of Natural Resources at College of the Desert and is the premier ornithologist in our area. Including travel to and from the Salton Sea, this birding event with Native focus will be a 12-hour tour, stopping at various birding sites along the way. The tour bus is restroom-equipped and accommodates 26 people. A box lunch is provided. Over 400 bird species have been sighted at the Salton Sea, part of the Pacific Coast Flyway, including American avocets, burrowing owls, merlins, sandhill cranes, and black-necked stilts. Bring your binoculars!
Fee: $125 (Includes box lunch and bus transportation) • Museum members receive a $30 credit toward fee. Advance required registration for this tour opens December 19. The bus departs from the front of the Museum at 7:00 a.m..
