Kurt Leuschner is Professor of Natural Resources at College of the Desert and is the premier ornithologist in our region. Including roundtrip bus transportation from the Museum to the Salton Sea, this birding event with a Native focus will be a 12-hour tour, stopping at various birding sites along the way. The tour bus is restroom-equipped. A box lunch is provided.
Over 400 bird species have been sighted at the Salton Sea, part of the Pacific Coast Flyway, including American avocets, burrowing owls, merlins, sandhill cranes, and black-necked stilts. Bring your binoculars!
Cost: $125 (Includes box lunch, light snacks & bus
Museum members receive a $30 credit toward the cost.
