Singing the Birds (Wikitmallem Tahmuwhae): Bird Song and Dance Festival

. This year’s event will be held Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Palm Springs High School Gymnasium, 2401 E. Baristo Road, Palm Springs, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event celebrates traditional bird singing and dancing which have, through the ages, been an important part of Native culture for tribes in southern California and other regions of the Southwest. Singing groups and dancers travel from all over California and neighboring states to take part in this event.
